EZ lift tailgate broken, 2008 Silverado

Looking for some help with an issue with my tailgate. My 2008 Silverado has the EZ lift option, which worked great when new. But now it seems as though the hinge/bushing on the left side of the tailgate is seized up a bit and closing the tailgate is a real pain. My question is does anyone know if the EZ lift torsion bar is serviceable in any way? I'm looking to either replace/repair it, or if need be remove it completely. Anyone had any experience with either replacing/repairing/removing the torsion bar from their NNBS tailgate?

Remove the tailgate. There is a bolt on the passenger side of the tailgate on the bottom. Loosen but don't remove it and you should be able to get the bar out.

Assuming the torsion bar then just slides out from the drivers side?

How about re-assembly? Anything to be aware of regarding preloading the torsion bar or just slide it back in and re-tighten?

thanks!

Pretty much. There is I believe an orientation marker of sorts on the end that keys to the driver box side of the hinge.
