Question for 3500 Dually Owners

I recently picked up one of the last 2015 Silverado 3500 LTZ dually's the week of Christmas. They had awesome promotions and incentives going that helped us decide the same day we wanted it. Among all of the excitement of the new truck, the surprisingly pleasant dealership experience, and everything that the truck did have I failed to notice an important piece that it did not have.

The biggest concern for us is the lack of side impact airbags. Is this normal that these aren't standard? I accept 100% responsibility for not noticing this during purchase, so please don't turn this into a flame/roasting thread - I get it, and I've learned my lesson.

Are these in fact only an optional safety feature? Our last 2008 dually had these and I was surprised to find out that the newest trucks with all the current safety regulations don't include side airbags. I don't suppose there is any way to add this after the fact either, since I'm sure there are sensors to measure a side impact and probably isn't as simple as trading out seats with the side impact airbags in them.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance to those who don't roast me for not noticing this before I bought.

They are an option from the WT to the LTZ models but standard on the High Country.

Not as simple to just change out the seats as there are side sensors involved, computer programing etc, major money.

The 2015 Silverado HD and Sierra HD models also get a similar interior layout to their light-duty counterparts, with more space and storage options. MyLink, IntelliLink, and a larger infotainment screen are also available. Safety features include available Driver Alert Package (Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Safety Alert Seat), rearview camera, front and rear park assist, side curtain and seat-mounted side airbags (standard on 2500, optional on 3500).

Crap, that's what I was afraid of. I've been in a t-bone accident before (someone running a red light) and very worried about not having these in the new rig.

I might ask the dealer just to see what options there might be, including changing /selling this to get one we feel safer in... Yet another valuable life lesson, slow down and look at everything including every little RPO code. Hopefully someone learns from my mistake. Thanks for the replies.
