Silverstar beams & 4 high kit

Recommended Posts

Is the Silverstar beams a HID kit or just replacement bulbs? Also, does anyone know of a supply for the 4 high kit, or is there instructions for enabling 4 high (instructions would be perfered).

Thanks,

Chris

Silverstars are just a bulb upgrade.  Cost is about 20 bucks a piece and they make your headlights look similar to the HID's.

Check out

SUV LIGHTS

They sell a kit to convert to 4 High.....

I put the SilverStar lights in my truck and they made a world of difference I can see now. They are well worth the 80 bucks for the set. I also rewired for 4 lights on with bright. I can light up the world now. I used a diode but am thinking I will set a relay as my dims get a touch dimmer when I hit the brights. For the money go with the SilverStars.

The SilverStars are "just" a bulb replacement, but the difference in the color and (perceived) intensity of the lights is really quite noticeable. Certainly worth the money.

www.stylinconcepts.com has a relay that you can get for about $20 which allow the highs and lows to be on simultaneously. That's what I got, and with better bulbs the difference is like night and day!:D (pun intended)

For what it's worth.........

There are a lot of ways to gain the 4 High look, however if you go with a upgraded wiring harnes like the one provided by SUV lights you take the load off the switch and put it where it should be (In the relays) And you also upgrade to larger wires meaning more power to the lights and more power means a brighter light that is operating under the conditions it likes.

The was these harnesses work is you turn the switch in the dash or the DRL;s turn the lights on and then the relay draws power directly from the batery and sends it to your lights. The factory way is to draw current through the swith, thus creating some heat transfer to your dash and over time blowing the switch in your dash. My parents have a 93 GMC that has this exact problem.... Changed out the switch and threw down the 30 bucks for the harness and walla the lights are brighter and no draw thru the switch as read by my fluke meter. Doesn't matter who you go with as far as the harness just stay away from adding extra draw through the switch

www.kennedydiesel.com sells the above mentioned light harness that uses relays and takes the headlight voltage right off of the alternator. Not only will the Silverstars be brighter than normal, they will be even brighter with direct alternator voltage.

My wifes van has Silverstars and it made a big diff, if Im ever in town long enough my truck will get them too!

The Kennedy Diesel kit is $135. Thats just the wiring harness - no bulbs. The deluxe kit with bulbs is $205. They sure are proud of their stuff.

walmart has the Silverstars(2 in the pack) for 26.9

Edit: I might grab a set but do these give that Blue look? Curious becasue In the snow Ive notced the whiter light makes it harder to see than regular halogens. Im not the only one thats noticed this.

Also have you ever driven alongside a BMW or lexus with the HID type bulbs? Im not sure those lights lght up the road any better when its pitch black out. They are "brighter" but when you look in front of the vehicles everyone Ive talked to say they cant see the road as well under any condition, and especially if its snowing.

No snow down here on the Texas Coastal Plains, but we have chronic high humidity resulting in haze. These Silverstars, for my eyes, do not cut through this haze at night making it more difficult to see, either on highs (when needed) or lows.

Definitely need a warmer bulb in these conditions. Not sure what bulb ratings I have for my OEM lamps, other than the fact that they are Philips brand. Going to their site reveals nothing. But for me, the OEM bulbs in this '03 truck are brighter than the Silverstars. This is totally different than what I have seen with '02 models and earlier in which the Silverstars definitely appeared to be brighter, albeit having the expected bluish-whilte light.

I haven't seen as well athnight since the Lasik surgery on my eyes. The Silverstar low beams made a big difference for me. I think the beam is wider and brighter.

only downside... the guy comming toward you hates it.

Silverstars and Kennedy harness are incredible!

Yes that harness is more expensive, but one of my troops has a harness that looks similar to the link provided and its crap. If you look at it funny the conections pull apart.

Kennedy's stuff is all soldered and waterproof. I guess you get what you pay for.
