I think that's what i'm going to do, Stainless glasspack (perforated baffle) not louvered into a 22" magnaflow muff 45degree mandrel bend into a custom Stainless NASCAR style boom tube. Yeah I said MUFF!

Dude you wont need the glasspack if you are going for a quieter sound. Ill grab a sound bite tomorrow with the gopro but it is very quiet. I like it a lot, yah the volant was fun for a bit being a hooligan but this is what i wanted.

I've got a 22" Magnaflow along with a Magnaflow race muffler on my 5.3 with Kooks and ORY. I was surprised how loud it was with a 22" muffler only.

#12589 is the one that I used.

Really?? weird, I just ran the 22 magnaflow and mine is also a 5.3 with ARH 1 7/8" and ORY and it is very quiet.....maybe it's just that I was used to the volant catback......watch my video a few posts back......it was VERY loud haha

I had some rasp with the 12589 only (no factory resonator, no second muffler and Kook's w/ ORY). It wasn't LOUD but louder than I expected and a bit much for towing with drone under load... I added a short Magnaflow 14159 in front of the 12589 and it's almost a little too quiet now, but not annoying when towing. I've gotten old I fear. It does sound mean under heavy throttle and wide open. If I didn't tow I would stick with the 22" only and not add anything else.

This is true.... It drones like a mofo!!!!

 

I tow very little so its no big deal.

 

I have 3" all the way from the collectors to the tip so maybe thats why it doesn't rasp... Also... Its a day old so it needs to brake in.

It sounds perfect to me.....just a tad drony but I like it.

It does... As all exhaust systems will.... The fact is that its muffling so much sound that it suprises me its not louder.

 

It drones when it gets "under load" if you kinda catch my drift. Not just at hwy speeds but under acceleration unless you mash it. Ill see if i can mount my gopro inside the truck and do a few hwy miles to get it good.

 

Again its not broken in so the note will deepen a bit.

Yea i know what you mean... I had a Flowmaster 40 on my last truck. I just cant do the highway drone especially with trailering anymore.

Oh god no its not as bad as a fartmaster.

 

I do think it will get annoying with.l a resonator like RobZ71LM7 has.... His setup is like mine but added a resonator and says its good for towing.
