Clarification/opinions wanted

First off, I have a 2015 Silverado 2500 HD wanting to add HID's. I'm pretty sure I have the projector type bulbs. I was mainly wondering what the quality if any difference between these two kits are? They both seem to replace the projectors with real HID projectors and fastheadlights use morimoto HIDS. What am I missing and what opinions of which way to go? Also, I've linked the Fog/high beam kits I was considering as well to see if anyone has opinions of how these will all look together. Forgive me if all this info is somewhere else but I did not see it. Thanks

Also, Osram Xenarc is an option with morimoto, they are $160.00 upgrade, what is so special about those?

If you already had projector headlights you do not need to do a "retrofit conversion" you can just install an HID kit. If you want the best headlight then do the retrofit. both kits are basically the same with a one real difference.

The Fastheadlight kit supplies you with an Adapter Bracket to bolt on the conversion easily for a 2014-2015 1500 silverado (I do not know if it is that same for the 2500).

Also the Fast headlight kit gives you everything you need to do the conversion with the most popular Ballast and Bulb combo.

No matter which place you order from you can specify which Ballast Wattage and which bulb & bulb color you want. Of course there is a price change when you start upgrading the ballasts and bulbs.

Well, if I'm going to do a project such as this, I would like the best light so switching out projectors would be something I'm interested in. I've read you have to crack open the headlight assembly (which is what I had to do installing my wifes halo on her car so same concept). however I also read on Sierras only that you would have to open them. Anyone know which is true statement?

The FX-R kit from www.fastheadlights.com for a 2014-2015 1500 Silverado does not require you to open the headlamp if you have stock projector headlights. You can install it with their adapter.

If you do not have stock projector headlights then you have to open the headlights and Fx-R projectors will not work. You will have to get Mini H1 projectors. www.fastheadlights.com offers this kit as well.

So basically the fastheadlight one is the same as morimoto (using their components) but using the fastheadlight direct adaptor? So the morimoto kit would be more work or?

Yes they are the same parts sourced from different manufactures just two different vendors. Again the fastheadlights kit is specifically for a 2014-2015 1500 Silverado ltz projector headlight and will bolt right in. If you buy the retrofitsouce kit you can make your own mounting adapter or buy the mounting adapter from fastheadlights.

    • These show the problem and symptoms, and I explain things too. to clarify again, I did not change over any computers or wiring (with the exception of the map sensor). All of the computers and wiring are original to the 2010 vehicle   video 1 - background info/explanation and part of the problem   video 2, idle misfire   I think the reason that the MAP sensor is reading High is because the engine is misfiring so there is less vacuum...   Additionally there's a p0102 for the MAF low frequency, and a p0108 for the map high voltage.        Again, apologies for the somewhat long-winded explanation, it's a rather difficult problem to explain without going into the details.
    • You'd want the Pulsar to be safe.  That was the first product that worked for 10 speed trucks that they came out with.   Range Technology 22451 Pulsar LT for 2019-2022 GM Gas Trucks     That said, in the features description of the RA003B, it does list it working with 10 speeds.  However there are reports that the RA003B can cause some drivability issues on early 10 speeds.  So the Pulsar is the safest move IMO.      Range Technology RA003B AFM/DFM Disabler   Features: Range AFM/DFM Disabler keeps you in full power 100% of the time Simply plug into your onboard OBD-II port and it instantly begins working to eliminate the AFM system Disables Auto Start/Stop Blue LEDs The Range AFM/DFM Disabler does not reprogram factory ECU Works in hundreds of applications, 2007-2022, including 10-speed models. • I have a 2019 new body style high country with a 6.2l L87 and a 10 speed transmission code MQB. Looking for a disabler that is compatible. Most show it’s not. I watched a video on utube from Dons Life that says Ranges RA003B is compatible but when you go to Ranges website and check compatibility it only has a 8L90 trans listed which is an 8 speed.  I don’t want to buy the wrong one. Anyone have any experience with this situation?
    • This actually happened. Be careful where you get your information re: gas price trends.
    • I understand the principle...you don't want to spend $150 for a $0.02 piece of plastic or a little screw and perch thingy.   But this is a problem that looks like it can be reliably solved with a zip tie.   That might hold you over until you can score one at a pick-a-parts yard.
