2000 3500hd the spedometer is off

The tires are the correct size for this truck but the spedo reads it's going 10-15 miles faster than it is. Not sure if the tranny has been changed or not it is the correct one for this truck. 4l80e. Can it be reprogrammed?

yup., I have done plenty , but its best having the truck around if you dont have a sync rig , especially if the motor is so far gone it doesnt have a rest position. Guys on ebay will do all 6-7 motors and send it back for under 80 bucks, if you do not have the tools and knowledge

Thanks for the info, will look into that. I'm glad we found this site. It's been helpful. It's hard when you buy a used truck and you don't know how it's been treated. We also have a 2002 Avalanche 2500 8.1 that we've had since new and have had fuel pump issues and the crank trigger ignition go out. Of course that happened pulling out onto a highway and it shut off. Of course it was after the warranty was up, but the dealer told me that it would probably be a recall. Since there aren't many of those trucks around it hasn't made it onto the recall list.
