Driveshaft Help Please

I have a 2001 silverado 2500hd 2wd 6.0 and I'm an issue with repairing my driveshaft coupling. I removed the driveshaft and the old coupling had the new one pressed on at a shop. I put everything back on the way I took it off and after all that the drive had slipped out about 3 inches from the trans and the rubber for the coupling chewed up pretty bad. I been through 2 couplings so far. Any suggestions on what I can be doing wrong?

If you're talking about the Yoke slipping out too far, you have a problem of:

  1. either the distance between your transmission tailshaft and rear axle is too far (is the truck lifted?)
  2. the driveshaft is not correct length (was the driveshaft ever replaced?)
  3. the yoke is too short (was the yoke ever replaced?)
