Window Regulator W/Motor Replacement

Hey Guys,

Figured I'd upload a few pics. Not much of a writer to do a "how to" guide. Very easy to do, probably 3/10 on difficulty.

There are guides and videos on you tube to remove the panel for the 2014. Very easy to do. Just make sure you have all the tools to pop off the 3 plastic pieces that have the 7mm bolts under them. Remove them and pop each plastic piece out. Panel comes off very easy. I kept the electric plugged into the door so I could still control the window. I just popped off the door handle piece.

First roll the window all the way up. Then tape in the window so it stays up. The regulator and motor is held on with five 10mm nuts and the window bolts can be accessed through a hole on each side. It's basically a rubber piece that compresses and pinches the window as you tighten the bolt. So I made sure the window was all the way up. I loosened the window bolts and then rolled the window down a bit to make sure it separated. Then take the 5 bolts out and fish the regulator out. I found the left side was easiest to get everything in and out of. I had to tap the regulator bolts a little bit with the hammer to get them out.

Once everything is out fish in the new regulator and motor assembly. Make sure you put in the top regulator bolts first because it rests in front of the glass. You will realize what I'm talking about if you try and put in the bottom bolts first. Anyways, just tighten everything down and plug back in the motor. Now make sure the 2 window pieces are very loose. Raise the window up and check that the window is sitting in the rubber clamps before tightening. You might have to fiddle with it a bit. I actually took the tape out and dropped the window to set right in the rubber and put some downward pressure to make sure it was all the way down in the rubber clamps. Then raise the window to the top and tighten them down.

**WARNING** DO NOT PLACE YOUR FINGERS IN THE WINDOW HOLES AND OPERATE THE WINDOW.

That's really about it. Then put everything back together.

Very easy, took maybe an hour. Let me know if anyone has questions. This is the best I can do for a write up...lol

Thanks but why did it go out so quick and why wasn't it covered by warranty?

Mine is a salvage title. So you will see me bringing up a lot of topics that nobody else has to deal with. I don't think the motor failed. When I took it out it actually looked bent. I think it was getting stuck and would just cut out. That door was impacted which caused the salvage to begin with. I'm assuming the repair shop tried to stuff the regulator in and bent it. Either way it's fixed now. I only paid 20k for a 2014 LTZ with 7k miles. I couldn't pass it up...just have to deal with a few minor things and no warranty...

Oh that explains it, thanks for the How To :)

Was thinking "dang mine better not go out so quick."
