First time buyer sierra 1500

I am looking at a 2008 gmc sierra 1500. It has 115,000 miles on it and has some cosmetic damage. Minor dent and scratches. Overall its in pretty good condition. Dont have any info on possible engine problems. Its being sold by a dealer. My questions are whats the most i should consider paying? And what are the more common problems with the truck? And lastly, is 115k too many miles to consider?

  Truck always things it's being stolen, engine cranks but it won't fire up and securty will flash. It actually starts flashing as soon as you open the door for the truck and they key isnt even in it yet. Sometimes it will start perfectly fine, but most of the time it will not. I've don't alot of research over time, this is for my dad's truck and it's been a problem for over 10 years but it has gotten to be alot more frequent. I've been told about the chip key and the relearn process, however the key that we have does not have a chip in it. which leads me to believe the relearn process will do nothing no matter how many times we do it. Ive read about the passkey resistor, the total bypass with the ignition wires, and about the ecm box replacement. Im wondering though since we dont have a chip key, which is the most logical part to buy? So if anyone out there can point us in a good direction I would really grateful!

  I would check if it's also getting ground (one of the other pins).

  Did you do a voltage check of either battery? old could be bad or discharged, new might not be fully charged.

  Note, this can void your whole warranty, if you don't get the speedo/odometer calibrated for it, as your mileage will be off.

  Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought. Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with? I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected.. Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned? Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them? I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
