Trans temp and possible slip

First question is what temps do your transmissions operate at? Today at 68 degrees on the way to work with some stop and go and some highway the trans temp was 142 as long as it was moving. WHen i got to work to check the fluid level, after idling for about 5 mins it had gone to 156. Yesterday on the way home when the temp was near 80 it got to around 180. Does this seem normal?

Second question, Ive had the truck for about 5 weeks now and about 1000 miles ago i changed the filter and about 6 quarts of fluid, fluid level is correct when hot. This week has had the hottest days since i bought the truck and once the truck gets warm it seems either the 2 to 3 or the 3 to 4 shift is really soft and feels like a slip. oes this seem like something i should be worried about or is it fairly normal now that the temperature is getting close to 80 outside?

The "slip" is under what i would consider a normal acceleration, not babying it but not drag racing either. If im less aggressive it seems to shift fine, im hoping its torque management or something.

Truck is a 2010 sierra crew 5.3 afm with the 6 speed.

180-200 degrees is the normal operating temp range.

Sounds normal for that year truck for the temps. Soft shift? Any RPM spike when it shifts? Sometimes the 6L80 is known to flare especially 2-3 shift.

On the new trucks per the gauge yes. Older 1500 trucks (2013 and prior) run cooler, especially when the temps are lower. Anywhere from 100-200F can be seen. The trans cooling system is continuous flow on those trucks. 2014+up there is a thermostatic bypass valve. Trans fluid reaches a temp, then the valve opens. They get up to 180F, the bypass opens and sends fluid to the cooler(s). 180-200F is normal all the time for 14+up trucks. And they reach it rather quickly. Older trucks and the HD''s take more time to reach those temps, and in some cases (cooler temps) don't reach those temps.

Thanks, flare is a better word. It doesnt do it all the time but if they are known to flare here and there that makes me feel better. If thats the case everything seems normal
