Vinyl on Grille Pics?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone covered any of the chrome on the front end of their 2016 silverado? I'm contemplating putting black vinyl over the chrome grille portions, headlight bezels, and maybe bumper. I'll likely leave the bumper alone since my wheels are black and silver.

Would appreciate any pics if someone has already done it and price paid if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!

Plasti dip would be a more cost effective option. When the weahter starts getting nicer here, I plan on doing my grille and headlight bezels. I'm still debating on the bumper.

Thanks for the replies. The 2015 turned out real nice! And I've used plastidip on a few parts before with mixed reviews. Hopefully the vinyl will be more of factory looking finish. I might plastidip the badges since they are smaller and would be real tough to wrap.

I found a guy who does it professionally and will do the grille and headlight chrome for $120. Hoping to get it done this Sunday and will post pics once it's done.

Just finished wrapping the chrome grille surround tonight. Fairly pleased with the results but I think you are making the right choice by having someone do it professionally. Half way through I ripped the vinyl and had to start over. Was about $60 for a 5'x6' roll of 3m vinyl. c16e547f3121128e7b80c89ec89c35b3.jpg

That's a bummer about the vinyl tearing. You should post a daytime pic to show off your work. The installer had to reschedule until this afternoon for mine so hopefully I can post a picture tonight too!

How's the wear on the grille? Any chipping like the painted ones?

Anybody wrapped the chrome bumpers? I didn't get painted on my AT because of all the chipping problems. I was hoping that a wrap would hold up better.

Got a few pictures today. Obviously too soon to tell about wear and tear. If this peels up I am planning on having it professionally wrapped and may do the bumpers at the same time. Might be possible to do the clear wrap over to protect it. Biggest complaint is a lot of light scratches from the smoothing tool used to install. Hopefully a little wax will help. b8ce19296ef9fe420db136e13da71137.jpg

You did a real good job on the grill surround.

I had my bumpers both wrapped for $250 total.

Anyone had experience with removing the vinyl? Just curious to the difficulty and then what work goes into cleaning up whatever you had it stuck to.

Did you have to do any prep work for them like removing the trim and plastic molding for $250?

He said it would be the same $250 if he had to remove the grill or if he was able to leave it in. Most likely it will need to be removed, but from what I have seen the grill is easily removed in about 20-25 minutes

Nope
