Sierra Jon Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 So I did some searching and couldn't find anything similar... My dad's 98 with the 5.7 seems to start and run fine when cold. When you shut the engine off and try to restart when the engine is warm it either takes a lot of cranking to start or won't start at all. Giving it gas will usually get it to start which had me thinking fuel pump but mechanic said pump is fine. Any ideas? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
dirtfan21 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 My '98 K2500 with the 454 would do this here and there, injectors were the problem.
Sierra Jon Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Thanks df, anyone else have similar experience? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
bradleymusic Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I've been having similar issues. I tried plugs, wires, and battery. It helped a little, but next is putting on a new ignition coil. We'll see how that does.
bradleymusic Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Update: I installed the new coil, and that didn't seem to do the trick. In the mornings when the engine is cold, it starts almost before I can get the key turned! I'm going to evaluate whether the ignition module is the next thing to replace. Jon, any updates on your truck?
Sierra Jon Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Nothing yet. It's my old man's truck. We're dealing with a brake line replacement first then going to address these issues after. Started it yesterday though and it purred like a kitten. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
