Inadvertent Power Relay.

Does any one know where this relay is located on my truck?

 

It is not in the underhood fuse panel, nor is it on the fuse panel by the side of the cluster which has the flasher relay mounted on it.

 

I can turn the relay on and off with the Tech2. After listening to the clicking the best I can tell is that the clicking seems to be coming from the vicinity of the BCM, perhaps this relay is inside the BCM.

 

The only item on my truck powered by this relay seems to be the cargo light illuminating the bed. That light goes off when I turn the relay off with the Tech2.

I was wondering the same and came across this answer on another website:

 

"There is no relay , it's an internal function of the BCM - body control module 
The BCM inadvertent power supply voltage circuit provides battery positive voltage to all of the interior reading lamps, visor vanity mirror lamps, and cargo lamps if equipped. In the event that any of these lamps were to remain illuminated for a period of more than 10 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position, the BCM will deactivate the inadvertent power supply voltage circuit to prevent a total battery discharge condition."

I found it, it’s only taken me 6-7 months.  I have a 2001 Silverado 2500 HD.  There is a panel to the left of the brake pedal behind a black box.  My manual indicated there was a Inadvertent Power Relay there.  (Thank you Hanes manual).
 

I have had a parasitic drain for the past 6-8 months.  Driving me NUTS!  I pulled the relay tonight we’ll see if the battery is dead in the AM or not.
