Radio Installation

My apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. I have a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. My factory radio was having issues switching to Aux, so I got the bright idea to replace it. Well 4hrs later I am still having issues. If I run the acc wire on the same as the battery, the radio works just fine. Only problem is it will not shut off. I connected it to the dark green, supposedly the Accessories wire. When I do that, try to start, it will not power on. Any way, I cannot find the wire that is 12v when the key goes to start or accessories. Can anyone help? I did cut the old harness.

where is this dark green accessory wire??? it won't be behind the radio because your 2011 had a LAN based accessory system which is why harnesses like the Metra GMOS-LAN-012, or the iDatalink Maestro RR (my favorite), or the PAC RP5-GM31 exist and are somewhat pricy compared to some other vehicles..

 

So that is why i has about the location of this dark green accessory wire. do you have a multimeter to verify that wire does what it says it does?

 

since you did cut the harness out best bet may be running a wire to the BCM. or you can still get one of the above 3 (Maestro RR!!) and solder that back in as replacement.

you can tap a switched source under the hood if you don't want a module. there will not be one in the harness. there is one in the kick panel and under the hood that's switched.

Yes it is true but depending on RPO codes he could have a digital amp which will require him wiring in resistors to not make the factory amp freak out or cut the factory amp out of the picture
