Would putting long tube headers on my truck that has (Flowmaster super 44s) make it louder and sound better or would it make it have that crackle/pop/raspy crapyy sound. If so let me know so I can save my money

It will make it much louder, and will likely induce some rasp. Changing to another muffler would help, or adding a resonator.

The main purpose of adding long tube headers SHOULD be to increase exhaust evacuation, why then would you want to add a restriction like a resonator?

chevyboy864 if you are worried about crackle/pop/raspy drone, DO NOT INSTALL LONG TUBE HEADERS, because that is what you are going to have.

If you do install them, make sure you open up the intake, and have your A/F ratio adjusted. For LS engines WOT should be @ 13.5:1 ratio.

I agree the main reason should be performance oriented. However, there are good gains to be had by changing to a long tube header, and then adding a resonator.

On my CTS-V I made 720rwhp with 2" primary headers and 3" corsa exhaust all the way back. The setup was insanely loud so I added a 22" magnaflow resonator to each pipe. It completely eliminated the rasp, and drastically toned down the exhaust. The car ran within one tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile. Hp different on the dyno wasn't enough to register between what most would consider day to day noise (like 5 hp...which could have been a result of heat, DA...)

No tune adjustment was needed, meaning the resonators had zero impact on AFR as measured by a tailsniffer.

So would resonators hinder performance? Yes...but is it enough to matter...on this size of a truck? Probably not.

No revs, but you should be able to hear a difference

I have Texas Speed long tubes and a Borla cat-back and its not crazy loud, but with not having cats your truck will smell like gas. People in line at Whataburger HATE me. But it does sound good! Once I do a cam it will sound even better! :nopity:

Sounds way better without the resonators, but I'm a drag race guy.

How were your times?

I agree it sounded better...but it was INSANELY loud without them.

It ran a 10.9 at 135, had lots of power but the 6 speed manual was a limiting factor.

Did 162 in the 1/2 mile
