**** LAST UPDATE****

Alright, so here it is. Last thing to deal with is my sales tax issue, only reason that's an issue is because when I bought my first truck I was active duty military in TN and we are tax exempt there which saves thousands on a $50,000 truck. I changed my legal residency to TN because of massively cheaper registration fees and what not, but most likely will have to pay VA sales tax on the truck, going to try and have GM reimburse me for that as well, but if not no big deal.

From the conversation with the GM Regional Manager I thought the deal wasn't going to change all that much. IDK, it was definitely a weird meeting where I came out not much more informed than going in. I had decided to sign and move on with my life. What ended up happening was an ACTUALY buyback, I was truly surprised. So they completely paid of my initial loan in full, regardless of the fact that in that loan there was $X,XXX rolled into it from a trade-in to get the truck. Then I ended up getting the new truck for "build cost" is the way it was put to me. Basically what it cost GM to build the truck is what I got it for. You hear all these terms such as: msrp, sticker price, dealer price, online price, invoice price, etc...... Yah all that crap to the side and idk what the term is, but again it was explained to me that I got the truck for build cost. The sales Manager told me I got the truck for $3,000 less than what he could get it for. They had to talk with GM to figure out what "discounts" to fill in the gaps and how to "word" them to get the price that low otherwise it wouldn't pass through the IRS, it would get audited. Overall the actual truck deal I ended up "BEING MADE WHOLE" which is what I truly wanted and think after going through all of this I deserve.

Now, the fine details. Again, I had purchased an extended warranty through Beamon GMC/Toyota of Nashville for $1,899.00 and there was $799.00 worth of GAP. Dealing with that dealerships was like pulling teeth. They were just horrible. Regardless, the powers at be gave some phone calls and persuaded them to make things happen sooner than later. The extended warranty and GAP "depreciated" since I had purchased the truck, but in the buyback agreement I was to be "MADE WHOLE" and GM would reimburse the difference of what GMC/Toyota would give me. So I received the check for $2,XXX from GMC/Toyota and now GM is sending me a check for $5XX.00 for the difference. So that's good, just waiting on GM's check the are FEDEX'ing me.

OVERALL, I'm very happy now. Yes if I would have known they were going to make me whole the way they did I honestly would have gotten an SLT, but again I was nervous about having to roll over some of this deal into the next deal that I got a cheaper truck. But I've made up for it by adding in Navigation, and hitch receiver "tow package" to the deal. So I'm basically going to build this SLE truck into my SLT that I had slowly but surely. I also did the Rough Country 2.5" leveling kit and did some TOYO open country R/T's and the truck looks amazing. So yeah, it's been a battle, but I came out more than ahead that's for sure. A new start and a new truck.

Finally@! Great to hear that GM did take care of you! I hope this Truck does you good! And forget about the 8speed it's just like the 6speed when they first hit the 1500's goofy and took years to clean up! The 6speeds I have driven in these trucks are spot on!

I have a 2017 Sierra with 11000 miles that is currently at the dealer for a failed lifter.  In addition, I have been experiencing the same issue with rough downshifting and mentioned that with the last oil change.  I was told it is the gas sloshing around in the tank.  I am wondering if anyone is experiencing lifter issues as well as rough downshifting with the 17's as in this thread.  I have the same exact issue as 4emeryj44 who started this thread.  Thank you.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
