Tow Mirrors for a 2001

Recommended Posts

Just installed aftermarket towing mirrors on my 2001 2500HD. They sit up at an angle and I don't care for viewing thru these when looking back at my camper. What has anyone else tried with success?

Thanks, Les...

yes mirror loosens , thats when you install the shims. Youll need to clean off the ridge on the top of the plastic cover. You will re tighten the 4 bolts ( I never used a phillips, I used a 10 mm socket I believe)

Where did you get the mirrors from?

Ebay, there are a few types out there. I bought Denali tow mirrors but had to re wire them, and bypass the trucks lighting timer. The regular manual or power adjusting mirrors are 99-130 bucks usually on ebay. search" 2006 chevy truck towing mirrors"

These have Upper power adjust, Heated, manual extend, Reverse lights ( had to rewire), Clearance ( had to rewire), and manual folding. Parking/clearance lights are on in the picture. Turn signals are as originals and in the mirror and in the shape of an arrow. The reverse lights are at the outside edge of mirror and do work well in pitch black with a trailer back behind you. These tilted Upwards when first installed as well. A friend with a 3500 HD Denali ( 2015) has these, but his are power extending, And Power folding. ( original equipment) The shells and mirrors on these and heater are made by the same company that makes the GM factory mirrors. New GM trucks have a BCM in the door to control these and other functions ( like temp )

Are these an option to install on an older Gm model HD?

Mine are like 200-2006 ( and 2007 classic) The Part number you listed are for similar style GM mirror for a early 2015, and are about 300 PER mirror, and the harness will NOT work on older trucks. Better to go aftermarket ( same actual maker FYI), and re wire them up to your truck

I went aftermarket in the link that I posted above and they are poor at best. Who is the maker that you mention?

I like the look of these, which model did you go with?

I went with model 70100 since I don't need the heated option. They do fold somewhat but not much. The remote option didn't have the extend/retract feature when I purchased over 10 years ago which wasn't a problem for me. The glass is good quality with a large viewing area. Installation was plug/play.
