Undercoating DIY or Body Shop?

Long story short, truck stolen, recovered minus the wheels, idiot tow truck driver *dragged* it on the ground to get it on the truck. Repairs nearly complete, but noticed in the places where the truck got dragged the undercoating is rubbed off. Should I just go at it with a rattle can or take it to a body shop and have it done? Pros/cons? Thanks.

That sucks what happened. But am in the DIY camp. You can tape off what you want, choose the product used & detail as much as you want.

Would I just use some plain old black paint or is there some kind of special undercoating paint needed?

Look into Ziebart undercoatings. Eastwood has good products also.

The frame coating is Dauberts X-121B black frame wax, available through them.
