hello guys,

im ALex from Germany...i drive a 2003 tahoe since 2012. The car has 150 kmiles on its back ...since a few days ive problems with the 4wd. When im drive on the german autobahn the auto4WD jumps in without touching the panel!

the problem accurs randomly...today i just drove on the highway...i had to stop at a cross road suddenly the 4-hi jumps in while im trying to turn right into the road...this also without touching the panel...i am bit confused..does anyone know what the problem can be? it would be very nice if someone can give a short note :) we aint have a gm dealer arround here

have a good one !

It is all electronic. I own a Tahoe 4wd and an Avalanche 4wd.

Your front hubs I believe have sensors. When they get bad, it won't go into 4wd. It might be reverse ? Drops into 4wd ?

Or ? Your switch panel is lose and a bump activates the switch to drop it in 4Wd.

I'd think sensors myself being I just replaced mine on the Avalanche.

thanks for the info...tomorrow i will pull out the switch and check it...the sensors in the front hub are for the anti lock breaking system..i think...

but i will put an eye on that too....

Yeah, the sensors in the front are for anti lock brakes, but my bet would be those same sensors detect wheel spin for the auto-trac. Do you have it in 2wd or Auto 4wd

its in 2wd...but like i said suddenly it shifts into 4-hi.... i can manualy switch back to auto 4wd but to get back into 2wd i have to stop and go neutral.

yesterday it did it again on a short highway trip....but on my way back (same road) home it dont...

Sounds like a bad Transfer Case Switch to me. I would replace that first.

If you have access to someone with GM SPS I would also flash the TCCM Module with the updated Calibration. GM had issues with Trucks starting up in 4low and pushed out a TCCM programming update some time ago. I dont think this is related to your issue but good insurance if you have access to SPS.

hey thanks for writing back... the guy at the shop hookt his snap on scanner to it and noticed that 8 different errors saved to the unit... i dont know which particular but i will tell him your advice also! i would say the TCCM is shot... the proplem is we dont have a GM dealer out here who can flash a update to a new or used one... and i have to search for where i can get the software :(
