6.0 Vortec coolant burping help

Hello, I'm running a 6.0L Vortec in my Wrangler from an 02 Silverado. I ended up changing the radiator and had to drain the coolant. Today i got it all complete and it started right up however coolant doesnt seem to be circulating good. My guess is air in the system. I left it warm up to 100c and it kept going up.

Both radiator hoses remained cold. Is there something i missed? Is there a bleed valve or something?

Also the engine hasnt been ran all winter and has been drained of coolant. Could the thermostat have gone bad from sitting all winter with no coolant?

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for your feedback sir. I'll get a thermostat tomorrow from autozone and give it a shot.

Also is it a problem if i run the green coolant or do i need that special stuff thats 3 times the price?

Damn, a 6.0 in a wrangler. That's awesome.

Good luck with your cooling issues. Swapping in a new thermostat should fix you up.

After looking at the parts available i'm seeing just the thermostat and a thermostat integrated with a housing. Is one better to the other? They are about the same price so i can get either. Also i'm only seeing 187F thermostat. is that the proper spec for the 6.0?

Today I swapped the thermostat, same thing. I checked the old one and it opened in boiling water. There has to be air in the system. I haven't been able to find a bleeding procedure for the 6.0. Help would be very appreciated.

Being that you shoehorned a 6.0 into a Jeep, YOU are going to have to modify the cooling system to burp the air out. Just a suggestion, maybe install some kind of tee in the top radiator hose that will allow the air to be released. My 94 Impala SS had something similar that was mounted on the top of the t-stat housing.

I read that there's a bleeder valve somewhere on the throttle body of the 6.0 but i dont want to go pulling off parts.

Thats why i'm asking.
