2014 GMC Sierra 5.3L - Speed limiter

I have pretty good idea as to why there is a speed limiter on my 14.

 

I just like to hear what others have to say about it.

 

I understand about drive shaft speeds - and tire speed ratings but what else would cause the need for speed restriction.

 

Id also like to bump the limit up from 99-to about 110. Is that possible with an aftermarket tune?

Don't quote me on this, but I think an aftermarket tune will remove the speed limiter. I had the one taken out of my 2005 Silverado via W4M Performance.

I believe in some places it is also illegal to remove the limiter. How would they know beats me unless you fly by at 200mph.

Even the tire size adjuster from hypertech will remove the limiter

tires limit your safe speed. make sure that your tires are rated for your desired speed.
