They have no clue, they just feel like it.

I left work at 5:30am and saw 2 cop cars sitting on the other side of the parking lot. They followed me out of the lot, on to the highway. Then I got back off the highway and went back to where I work. Pulled into the lot and parked my truck with the cops right behind. I got out, the cops turned thier lights on and got out. I asked why they were following this morning and every morning for the past few months. They didnt have an answer. They check my license and stuff. Ran the plates. Everything was clean. By this time the guys I work with, who waited for thier cars to warm up, are standing next to my truck. The cops said everything was clear. So, I asked why they were following me agian. And all they did was walk back to thier cars and drive off. But, I didnt have any cops follow me home this morning. We'll see about tomorrow though.

Hmm. did they think you were someone else?

They pulled you over in a parking lot.   hmmmm, no jurisdiction on private property.  If they do it again get there badge numbers and call the boss, because now it becomes an issue of harassment.

That isn't right.  This has the similarities of a "stalking."  I'd call the police dept and ask for the sergent in charge of that shift.  If it turns out to be one them, ask to speak to the chief.  Keep going up till you are satisfied.  (After the chief, contact someone in the county court house.....who, I don't know).

ANYONE, is it legal for the police to park in a businesses parking lot without permission?  Maybe you can speak to your boss about this harassment.

Well, that's my 2cents.

No, they didnt pull me over. I drove to back to where I work and parked. I knew the guys I worked with would still be there. So, I used them as witnesses. I dont know why they turned thier lights on. But, it seemed stupid me. I guess tehy turned them on, because I got out of my truck and started to walk toward them. But, this is the first time they have actually sort of stopped me. The rest of the time, they just followed me to and from work, and that didnt really bother me. It irretated me a little, but not enough to called thier boss and complain. But, now they know who I am and that Im not wanted. So, they shouldnt have any reason to follow me anymore.

I already checked with my boss. The cops can park in the lot and watch the store, shoot radar, or what ever. The store director asked them to pick up patrol around the store, because of high theft and people screwing around in the lot and causing trouble.

How long have they been following you?  This doesn't sound like the first time?  If they had suspicions about you, why didn't they pull you over the first time?  They obviously know where you work and roughly what your schedule is.  What if you were a criminal, do you think it is prudent (for the public) for the police dept to wait around for you to do something else?  They know your name.  On the off chance they are planning something else for you, notify their boss and start the record keeping.

They pulled me over for speeding once over a year ago. Other then that nothing. But, I didnt notice this happening until december. So, ever since then, almost every night. Im starting to think upper management where I work might be behind it. I just talked to another one of the guys I work with, who had last night off. he said lately he has been having the same thing happen to him. The only way the cops could know when I come to work and leave work is if the store told them. My schedual, is written down, but its not the schedual we follow. Some times I come in early, leave early, leave late, dont work one night when Im on the written schedual. So, basically its a verbal schedual between me, my manager, the other guys I work with and upper managment. Dean, the other guys whos being followed, noticed it happening to him about the time when $900 in smokes were stollen. So, Im starting to think the store is having us watched.

Another good reason that you should be happy you're leaving work soon

I would talk to your boss to see if your suspicions are true.  I mean, if that's the kind of trust they have in there employees than it's a pretty sh*tty place to work.

If that's the case I'd be in my bosses office complaining about harrassment. I'd still call the chief and voice my opinion. If you are out of your vehicle the police have no right to ask for you license or anything of the sort.

I could have told you it was a $#!tty place to work a long time ago. I wish I stayed at the store I transfered out of to come to the one Im at now. I think the entire crew is going to corner the top 3 guys in the store tomorrow morning and see what the heck in going on. If they try and blame it on the guy they just had transfered to another store, then I cant really prove anything. Basically, because he just got fired from the store he got transfered to. But, I know one of the guys and he cant blow me off like the rest of them can. I know he's weak spots and how to make him talk.

I'll see what he has to say tomorrow. He's in Iowa right now at the corpriate office. Actually, Im glad the cops ran my license and everything. Now they know Im not up to anything or wanted for anything. I have a clean sheet, except one speeding ticket over a year ago. So, maybe they will stop following me and if they store is beind it, start asing why they were asked to follow me.
