Service stabilitrak to electronic freakout

Has anyone had an issue similar to this?

I was driving up a mountain on my way back to Vegas from LA today. Halfway up the mountain I start getting random service stabilitrak messages. My power inverter starts popping in and out. I figure its a glitch and it'll resolve itself. As the messages kept disappearing a half-second later. Further on, the messages get a little more often and I got the power steering assist reduced message. From there, I decide to pull over when I find a safe turnout. Soon as i find one, I hit the emergencies and let the people pass me as the turnout is on the left. Make the left and then everything goes haywire. Truck starts flashing the screens and power is on and off. Doors unlocking and locking and basically everything is like jump starting left and right. One more thing, while driving up the mountain at 35-40 mph, the cruise control randomly turned itself on and set it to 73 mph. I turned it off and kept going. Reset the truck by turning it off and back on and it got me home the next 300 miles. I had the power steering message once before a month ago and just assumed it was a fluke as it seemed to resolve itself. I'm going to the dealer on Friday.

So, I'm just wondering if anyone has experience anything like this and how worried I should be.

Could be a bad battery or a bad ground. I would check the battery cables first, then have the battery tested.

Check your battery. There will be a date on it. Most batterys last 3 to 5 yrs. nin the new cars im gonna day 3 cause of all the electronics. Svc stabilitrack came on in my camaro after i got a mis cyl 2. These new cars are weird. Check your battery first.

This is a known issue!! Check out my post on page 4. I recently traded my truck in for a '16 so my headache is gone. They "fixed" the issue after 3 weeks of having my truck, replacing both battery cables (which the negative now gets grounded in a different spot) and replacing the entire fuse box.

Yeah I'll be taking it to the dealer soon. Makes me want to unload the truck because it locked the steering on me.

I had a similar occurrence. I had warnings from almost every system in the truck come up. Turned the truck off, some warnings came up again, truck was running fine. i started to drive and realized that none of my gauges were working, no speedo/tach, fuel etc, the radio worked though. Happened to be in town where the GM dealer is, parked it in the service bay and told my story. Started it up and everything worked. They looked at the stored codes and reprogrammed (bcm/pcm? some kind of cm module). Has worked since-30000km. Was a warranty issue with no fuss at all.

Dealer says my HIDs are "misinstalled" causing avoltage drop. Somehow the two wires one to ground and one to positive on the battery are doing that. I'll just put it back to stock and see what they say if it happens again.

Further update. The service advisor that said it was misinstalled said that it caused a voltage drop. However the printout from the service tech stated that they couldn't recreate it and all the grounds seem to be ok. Also they noted that the aftermarket ballasts have a possiblity for causing that and that everything seems to test fine. They unplugged my hids from the battery at any point.
