Painted tailgate handle rub

To those of you who have painted to match tailgate handles.- My tailgate handle rubs against the painted bezel when I lift up to open the tailgate. It's minimal but is starting to

wear down the paint good. I've tried doublesided tape on the one side tab when putting the

bezel back in to raise it up, but it still rubs. Just wondering if anyone had this problem and has a good fix for it. I noticed other trucks do it too, but with the rough plastic stock handle/bezel it isn't an issue.
