Paint Chipping in Extra Coated Area

The chipping and "rust" on the under lip of the wheel well is normal. The warranty is for rust through, meaning it is damaging the structure of the panel.

Unless it has just been way to long, you should be able to remove all of the "rust" with a mild compound (e.g., fine cut cleaner) and then touch up the chips with touch up paint. It is kind of a pain, especially if you are dealing with a bunch of them, but it is just normal maintenance.

If you only want to touch them up once, buy some flares (even low profile) to put on after you get it cleaned up. The flares will cover that entire area.

This is actually on the outward facing portion of the fender. The local dealer will be "fixing it" under warranty.

I still don't have a good fix for the other chipping, need to get that cleaned up and covered with the plastic covers.

Just an update for anyone else who may come across this. I spoke with GM via Twitter back and forth and after taking my truck in to have the dealer look into what I thought was rust on my fenders, GM ended up approving the warranty work for my chipping issue.
