Huge scratch on rear door

So I'm not sure how but I noticed today a huge scratch on my rear passenger door. Has to be like 2' long. I thought it might have been the lawn guys this morning, but I went back to the videotape and I didn't see anything. One guy made a pass with the leaf blower but idk if it was him to be honest. I park in a municipal lot 5 days a week and while I normally get a spot that keeps me on the end where no one can park next to the drivers side, the passenger side is susceptible to damage. I know I'm not the only ones with scratches, I'm not really sure what I should do. It is very noticeable on my black truck. So much to the point where I thought about doing some kind of vinyl on the truck to hide it.

I'll try to get a picture maybe later on.

It all depends on how deep it is . If it is not all the way through the clear coat it might come out with da polisher with a cleaner polish . I use Meguiars 105 and 205 with hex logic pads. I would say wet sand but you really have to know what your doing or you can ruin you paint job in a hurry .

+1 for not touching it with sandpaper unless you have know how.

Best bet is to try a scratch repair service. See how much your dealer quotes you vs an independent. If it is bad/deep enough at least it is on a part that can be easily removed and repainted, would not break the bank but dealer would not do it cheap either.

As someone who has been painting almost his whole life non professionally and as enthusiast who grew up around a paint shop you really need to have someone look at it in person. Pics and online advise will not help a lot with paint too hard to see, cannot touch or views from a bunch of angles and catch the lighting etc.

I feel the paint on these trucks is paper thin. It does not seem to hold up to anything. I have quite a few scratches that i've never seen or had with any previous vehicle. Most detail shops can buff out quite a bit unless its to the metal.

worst paint jobs in the industry they scratch just drying them. bird shit will eat the clearcoat off in no time. had 3 spots on the 14 where the clearcoat was gone from it.
