Two small annoyances

Recommended Posts

There are two things I noticed with my '15 Sierra. One, occasionally when I use the washer fluid, the pump kicks on, wipers start but no fluid comes out for quite a while. (Sometimes a solid 5-10 count) Most of the time the washer fluid sprays immediately.

Second thing I noticed is, also occasionally, if I start my truck and take off immediately, the thing accelerates very quickly even just feathering the pedal. Almost like it has a mind of its own. Kind of hard to explain.

Has anyone noticed similar behaviors?

About the washer fluid, do you wait til it tells you to fill it up to fill it? It's probably just air in the lines. I keep mine filled and fill it once a week and never had that problem. I do that because I'm OCD about keeping the windshield clean so I used washer fluid everyday and squeegee the windshield every time I fill up. Only times was when I was getting the rest of the factory fluid out for me to add rain-x fluid.

The 2nd thing, your RPMs need to settle before you drive off, especially if it's cold. The RPMs at idle should be about 500.

Actually I'm kind of like you, top the washer fluid off weekly, and use it often. Also use RainX. Just seems sporadic that it doesn't work and can't pinpoint why.

I agree with the RPMs, I usually let them settle before taking off, just seems like a strange thing. Reminds me of the downshift lunge my 2010 did, only this time when accelerating.

I have the same thing as you with the washer fluid. This only seems to happen though when it's starting to get to the point the refill light will come on but not quite there.

As for the other thing, the reason it feel jumpy is because the engine is already revving high so a little more gas means even more revs. When you start it up and it's revving high, just let it sit for the 10-15 seconds it takes to settle down and all will be normal. And that's not just a GM thing, every car/truck I've owned will rev high the majority of cold starts.
