Onstar Interface hookup (or other items)

Little background info:

I have replaced my stsreo system avoiding 100% of stock components with the acception of the onstar. TO keep my onstar I have used the PAC interface component. On this component it has 2 outputs to wire up a external speakers.

So I bought an external speaker from radio shack and wired it up, but im not real happy with how it sounds so I got to thinking…

Can I take the 4 wires coming from the onstar module (2 speaker outputs) and wire them to the inputs which signal the front speakers on my amp? I realize I would have to split the RCA inputs on the amp. The only problem I can foresee would maybe be some unwanted signal noise from the unit, but I do not think it has ANY output unless the onstar is active.

Considering the unit mutes the radio when onstar is activated, this would turn off the radio signal and then allow the onstar to come through the front speakers.

I realize I would be un-able to have a volume control, so my thought was to add a volume pot in the signal line going back to the amp from the PAC onstar interface unit.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it a bad idea, I don’t want to end up blowing my onstar unit or something. However I can’t se a problem, the amp would just be picking up the signal and simply amplifying it.

Thoughts?

That's a great idea. It should work just fine. Now thats using your head. :D

I like to modify my electrical stuff now and again, install diodes so as to have all 4 headlights on high and low beam instead of high or low, wire a garage door opener through an extra button on my keyless entry remote, etc.
