Heater thermostat screwy?

Recommended Posts

The last week or so the thermostat for the heater controls in my 15 Silverado have been less accurate and consistent than a $45/night motel shower. Only way to get heat is to increase 1* at a time, taking like 2-3 min to go from 65* to 80*. I can feel it warm up but there's no way its actually reaching the indicated temp. So I have to crank it to HI. But once you get to hot and lower it down, it goes ice cold. I get max heat on HI, but if I lower it to 88* it feels like 60*.

Anyone else experienced this?

I think I recall someone else posting about that issue -- but I don't recall the resolution.

Waaaaaaaaat that sounds weird. I would be tempted to disconnect the battery cable for a few minutes and see if the hvac module might reset itself. Have you used your truck to boost off another vehicle and possibly shorted the jumper cables or anything? Does not take much of a spike to fry several thousand dollars worth of electronics in about a millisecond on these new computers on wheels.
