Ok fellas I know you all are the pros, I just bought a new 2017 highcountry with the 6.2/ 8 speed. Apparently no one can tune the tcm, so I decided to buy a diablo i3 since I’m familiar with it, was gonna go BLACKBEAR but they refuse to answer emails or phones, so here’s what I’m asking!!

what bolt I s Can I buy to get the most out of this truck, I’ve read I should not swap my manifold to the vet manifold or the msc due to losing mid range and that since I have the 8speed it won’t matter much. However let me know your opinion?

* what cold air intake

* what throttle body upgrade

* should I upgrade manifold

* what are the best header option

* I already added the cat back borla exhaust

* am I missing anything, I’m gonna start buying ASAP so LLEASE HELP

Dont buy the mit tube, it does nothing on these motors. It helped a lot on the gmt900 and everybody thinks these are the same. They are worthless unless all your after is sound.

full airade intake or afe momentum gt

I had the MIT.  I now have the afe gt.  Only thing I got more of was sound.   The mit is 150 and the afe is 400.  I'd go with the MIT now from what I know

Well we have dyno's from a reputable source indicating the MIT tube does absolutely nothing and the afe gt nets 25whp on a 6.2.

No offense, but until you provide a full workup of data, which I don't expect you to do, I'm going to have to conclude .....blackbear controlled environment multiple intake testing data > Nasty's anecdotal evidence

On the 6.2 it helps more. I have both motors. But I have the afe now on my 5.3.  I'm just speaking from my experience.

Whats wrong with Volant or S&B?  They're enclosed too.

I actually went with the age momentum gt   And jba shorty headers and a diablo Intune I3 tuner,  I’m considering a potted throttle body 102mm what’s your opinion on this fellas?

Hey guys,

I'm new to this thread, but I've been reading up on this swap and I'm curious to hear the results people are seeing and what, if any, issues people are running into after swapping to the 6.2 intake manifold and TB from the 5.3. Results? Issues? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I did the swap on my 5.3 and don’t think it’s worth it. Throttle response may be a little better but other than that I didn’t notice any gains. My truck had long tubes, a tune, afe intake, and exhaust before I did the manifold and throttle body swap.

Thanks for the info. Did the swap throw any codes? Did everything relearn/reset automatically?

I had my tune updated, not sure if anything really changed with it.

Just swapped my 2014 sierra 5.3 intake and throttle body. Went with the L86 intake and Katech LT1 CNC ported TB. I didn't take any pics of the intake manifold but there is clearly a difference. Here is the difference in TB size. Still need to have Blackbear retune.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
