4.3l offroad?

hey guys im pretty new here and im new with working with trucks so i was wondering can i make my truck go offroad i have a 2008 silverado 4.3l rwd? but im going to change my gear ratio from 3.23 to 4.10 since i go camping alot and i have to drive to lake tahoe highway mountains in california. so would that help alot or make a change if i ever decide to go offroad or atleast go up the highway mountains since it struggles when i go the those mountains thanks guys sorry for having such a weird question.
