Bailey17 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Hello everyone! I am currently deployed and my wife just bought me a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab SLT. I haven't got to get into it yet because she just bought it yesterday and I am down range. The truck has the Bose premium sound system and onstar. I was wondering what I would need to purchase in order to keep onstar, steering wheel controls, and all that in good working order. Also if I do switch out head units will it make the radio in the back seat not work too? Another question I have is, is there something I can buy in order to give the stick head unit Bluetooth and iPhone controls? TIA
audioworks04 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 There isnt a good way to add an aux input that you would need for bluetooth. Best bet for your truck would be an aftermarket single din head unit with all the options you are looking for. Plenty of companys offer integration harnesses that make the swap easy.
wottenad Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 You can add Bluetooth with no problem: http://www.cruxinterfacing.com/products/BEEBG-33/index.html- this plugs and plays, but music will only come through the front doors and tweeters. If you replace the deck, you'll need a data module, steering wheel control adapter, antenna adapter, kit, new XM tuner and lots of programming. The rear controls will not work on any aftermarket radio.
