Ok, I have to ask...

Ok, I know what your thinking. "Haven't we answered every possible question about Zaino already?" Well, trust me, I have read post after post on this subject and I'm 95% in the "know-how" of what I need to know. But if you’re like me with your truck's exterior, you want to be 110%.

 

I have the fire red color and I have the dreaded "swirls". The previous owner took great care of the truck and other than this, the truck is immaculate. So reading all the great reviews on Zaino, I decided to go with the best.

 

So I guess I'm asking if the following steps would be what you would suggest....

 

1. Wash the vehicle with a mixture of dawn and water to take some of the old wax and oils and ect. off.

 

2. Use the Z-18 Claybar with lots of lubrication of Windex to take off the contaminates from the surface.

 

3. Use several coats of the Z-5 for the swirls and then use several coats of the Z-3 ..... or should I alternate between the 2? One coat of one and one coat of another? (I can feel my arm getting sore already)

 

And what's with the ZFX? It's an additive that apparently get's added into the wax itself?? Do you guys suggest this? I noticed it's an extra 20 dollars and was wondering if it was worth it and exactly what its purpose is. I was under the impression that this was a great wax, and I didn't quite understand why it would even need an additive.

 

All this work will be done in my garage so I'm not worried about the wind or the sun. And believe it or not, I actually look forward to doing all this!! Isn't that bad?? But I would appreciate everyone's input on this.

Based on my knowledge of their product line, I would suggest going from Z5 to Z2, skip the Z3.

I would strongly suggest the ZFX additive which essentially is a quickening additive which speeds up the drying time of the various wax coats meaning that you can get all the wax coats on in one day without waiting the 24 hour period between coats.

ZFX has many advantages that Z-1 does not, with ZFX you can apply 3 coats in a day, with Z-1 it's one coat per day. ZFX will allow the polish to dry much quicker in all conditions, as well as ZFX will allow the polish to shine brighter and forms a harder finish as well. I would repair any bad swirl marks before using Zaino with a product like 3M Scratch and Swirl Remover, Z-5 will cover or hide light towel type scratches.

I bought the ZFX and thought it would be a waste of money. However after using it last weekend i like it alot (jim carrey voice). It lets the wax dry faster so you can accomplish more on one day. It also helps it shine better. I was thinking when i got it yea right why dont i burn a $20 bill.

I'm gonna order up some more of the Z-6, and I think I'm gonna get the ZFX also, nice to get as many coats as possible in one day.

Do you like the Z-6? I think it attracts more dust then it repels..........

I like the way the truck feels after the Z-6. Like Butta! Not sure about the dust, it's rained almost every day since I waxed it. But it is pretty cool to see the rain droplets shake when I start the truck, and seeing them zip off the hood when I pull out of a parking space. It's like the truck is shaking all the water off like a wet dog! I did notice that the paint is a lot more shiny since I put the ZFX on. One question though, Did anyone add the stuff to the Z-1 also? I felt kinda bad throwing out about a 1/4 ounce of the wax that was left in the bottle after I was done. I would have put another coat on, but I had to go to work that night!

Z-6 does reduce dust and dirt pickup because it gets rid of static, you may want to take your towels out of the dryer when they are half dry, and then hang to finish drying, this will reduce static in your towels and you will not transfer the static to your car or truck.
