Running board (22805440/84106505) install questions

Hello, new member here. Thank you for allowing Silverado drivers a forum in which to get advice! Much appreciated..

 

So I have a question on installing some running boards on my 2015 Silverado 1500 Double cab, 4.3L, gas.

 

I am looking at part #22805440 or part #84106505. The latter appears to be an updated part number, all other things being the same. Anyone know if that is true?

 

So I'm also told that the install is very easy, with the brackets simply bolting onto the rocker frame and the boards attaching to those. Trouble is, I do not see and "threaded" holes when I go under the truck. They could be hidden behind some round hard plastic automotive type fasteners, but I'm reluctant to pry those off if not. (Usually once you pry those things off you can't put them back on ..)

 

I called Chevy direct to see if there is a pdf file somewhere with the instructions, but they could not help me. No one at chevy could tell me if my specific vehicle does in fact have the threaded holes. I know the steps come with instructions, but I don't want to buy them, then find out i can't easily install them.

 

If anyone has any advice for me on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you again.

Same stuff not sure why they changed the p/n but they are the same. If your truck has any threaded holes (usually only crew cab I think) the front bolts install into those. They are not hidden, and are visible. Otherwise, there are specific rubber plugs that get popped off that have a small hole directly next to them. You pop the plug, and slide the J nut in place. They use the same nuts on the rockers (push them onto the designated holes). Really easy to install.

Got it, thanks. Not to sound like an idiot, but I guess if the part # fits my truck, and those two numbers do, the associated hardware they send will also do the trick.
