mike51705 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I have a 2015 1500 WT. It didn't come with keyless entry remotes, can I just buy a set off of Ebay and program myself?
Coby7 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Check RPO codes in glove box for AP3, AP8, AU0 or AU3
mike51705 Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 The only one I see out of those in my truck is AU3.

IF you have power locks, YES you can add a remote. Why? Because you have tire pressure monitors on your truck.. They transmit their data to the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). Because that module is present, you can add a factory keyless entry remote. NOW...can you program them yourself? NO. HAS to be done by a dealer with GDS2. Can you add factory remote start? No. 1

mike51705 Posted January 17, 2017 Author Posted January 17, 2017 Thanks 15HDriver, I am guessing the remote would probably have to be bought through the dealer? Or could I purchase one online and just have them program it? I'll call the dealership and see what they say.
Coby7 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 AU3 ( Electric door lock ) means your truck didn't come with remote keyless entry from factory. Contrary to what's been said previously here you can still get OEM remote start but the kit is very expensive because it includes a hood switch with harness, key FOBs (2), a different RCDLR an AP3 sticker to apply over your AU3 and an activation code, all this has to be done at the dealer or a certified GM shop. They will sync the new RCDLR to your BCM and with the activation will be able to download the proper menus to your BCM to enable these options.

AP3 and AP8 is a 2007-2013 deal. On K2 trucks, if you have AQQ, you can add remote start. AU3 power locks are standard on all K2 trucks. Just to clarify, when I say K2, its 2014+up. You don't need a new RCDLR on K2 trucks. The OP has a 2015. If its got power locks, you can go right into the BCM and add key fobs. I have personally done this on a 2015 1500 WT. The customer was curious if it could be added, but he ended up not doing it because he didn't feel like spending the $$$ for two key fobs and $30 for programming. I took a brand new one off the shelf, went in via GM's GDS2 diagnostics and was able to add them to the truck no problem.
Coby7 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I stand corrected then. Thank You! Now we all know. Did you need a GM activation code like before or the menus are all there?

On the K2 trucks, with GM GDS2 you go into the BCM and simply add fobs. If its a truck that has factory keyless but no remote start, its a hood latch, two fobs and an auth. code that has to be phoned in to GM to change the programming for the truck. Those come in the GM accessory remote start kit. GMT-900 were similar (AP8 to AP3 factory remote start upgrade but those were just key fobs, no hood latch).

So in my 2018 Custom with AU3 code, all I would need is keyfobs and a reprogram from the dealer? I asked the dealership to add keyless entry and they charged me $275 and install a crap aftermarket one.

I have a 2014 with no key fobs, but with On-Star, Cargo, Duramax if it makes a difference. AU3 RPO code. Dealer tried 3 times to order key fobs, 3 button, 4 button (cargo door separate) & 5 button (remote start) and could not get any to pair with the RCDLR /TPMS receiver. I ran this information and VIN past Dorman when I tried one of their programming modules & fob and they ran the VIN said I am missing the key fob receiver. But I have TPMS and the receiver is the same part number. SO..... Do I need a different RCDLR receiver (part number 20863945) and have the BCM reprogrammed to use this new key fob / TPMS receiver? My dealer doesn't seem to understand this stuff. They also said just buy an aftermarket remote / alarm.
