Head unit Swap for 03 with Bose

Does anyone know if GM put the six disc in dash CD player in the Silverado's? I want to get one and install it, but I haven't seen one for a Silverado. Right now I have the Bose AM/FM Cass, CD player and want to swap to the 6 disc in dash. HELP!!!!!

Yep - at least it is in the GMC for model year 2003, I don't think 6 disc changer was available before 2003 in any pickup except in the Denali. I think most of the options are almost identical between the Chevy and GMC - so you should be able to find it. I have a feeling it's going to be very expensive out of "parts" and regardless of where you get it - you'll have to have the computer reprogrammed for it to play in the truck - again this is all assuming model year 2003.

If you can find it - check out and see if you are also interested in the XM option. Unless things have changed it may not be available except from the factory - but that is one of the best things I love about my new truck. I don't even listen to most of the CD's anymore. The problem is I've heard that you can not buy the XM module from parts and add it to any radio yet. However if you can find it (maybe a junk yard - I would have to assume a few of these babies have already been totaled) it also would have to be programmed by a dealer with the Tech 2 tool.

Note: Regardless of XM, if you do find a radio (and you should, Silverados and Sierras are pretty much identical), you will need to go to the dealer to get it programmed to work in your truck. The radio will have the old truck's VIN stored, and when it queries the BCM for the VIN, it will find a mismatch and lock out. The dealer will need to reprogram the radio to work, but after that you're all set.

I saw one on Ebay about a week ago! Check around there. I think the starting bid was $200. The install shouldn't be a prob but as stated before, you will have to have it reprogammed.
