Frame or motor vin locations?

Hey guys I just picked up a 2014 Silverado and it is in the question that someone once changed the vin #s on windshield and door post. I've searched all over for vin #s on frame or engine and can't find anything. Please help me locate these.

this is for the engine. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is located on the left side rear of the engine block (1) and is typically a nine digit number stamped or laser-etched onto the engine at the vehicle assembly plant.

•The first digit identifies the division.

•The second digit identifies the model year.

•The third digit identifies the assembly plant.

•The fourth through ninth digits are the last six digits of the VIN.

There are many vin locations on body, frame and motor. Any major police department has an auto crime unit which is well versed in the exact locations of every manufacture. Call make an appointment they are usually very helpful. I have had to do this more than once.

I think if I had to question the VIN #'s possibly being changed or whatever you have going on, I would probably run away pretty quickly as there is many more for sale. Run Forest run.

Thanks everybody. And it is kinda too late as I had bought it before I posted this. I am getting a vin verification Monday and then will be going to try and register Tuesday. We will see what happens.

I will preface my remarks with I have a backround in this subject. In my state Florida as with most states a "vin verification" is just a formality that the vin is attached to the car as stated on the title and they match. It is NOT a verification of correct vin matching the car. Meaning if the car has been altered or "tagged". If ANY vin on the car is altered, touched or changed it is a felony. Many morons at body shops, and car sales have all kinds of ridiculous reasons why they changed a vin when doing repairs on two cars and making one. It is illegal. Even Chip Fooses Eleanor cars had BIG issues with moving vins from car to car. There were arrests regarding. Once a manufacture vin is altered the state and police need to verify the actual vin of the car and that it is not stolen and they will affix a "state vin" The new title gets the state vin along with the car. Usually a yellow sticker inside the door jam. The value of the car cuts in half. Whoever altered or changed the vin and sold you the car has a big problem. If when the police verify the actual vin and its stolen, so do you. The property will be seized and returned. If they determine you innocently bought and are a victim and have no affiliation with the wrongdoer you will have no charges. The money becomes a civil matter. You need to contact the state police or a local police with an auto crime specialty unit for assistence.

You are now involved in the issue. Personally before they get arrested I would return the vehicle and get your money back if possible. You still would have a civic duty to contact police before they screw the next guy. If they refuse call the police to the scene and start the investigation. There is NO reason for anyone to be touching a vin or odometer except for nafarious reasons. If there is one mark on the vin or a rivet it is most likely altered.

I would caution you that it is not too late just because you bought it, if you are a victim. If you go to great lengths legitimizing their scheme trying to get a title then later when you sell this truck or at anytime a police officer inspects your car and it is discovered stolen the defense of ignorance and being a victim evaporate and you can be portrayed as part of the crime.

Don't think the police dont know many people will buy a tagged car with a big discount and are fully aware its stolen. Thats why they get arrested also. Thats very diffent from a innocent person buying a used car at a dealer at a retail price and then discovering its altered and stolen. They are a victim with a very defendible excuse.
