Fully Boxed Frame Durability Mod

Had my 2016 RCLB since December of last year. In the 4 months I've owned it, I've spent quite a bit of time underneath it, studying.

One day I stuck my finger in a hole in the side of the frame along the drivers side underneath the door...a pool of water sat inside. I noticed the pass side of the frame had adequate drain holes, especially in the lowest part of the frame where water is apt to settle.

The driver side has drain holes but GM Engineering has decided to omit one at the lowest part of the frame...allowing water to settle there, which will eventually cause rust that will eat through from the inside out.

Thankful I noticed this, and it was a simple fix with a cordless drill, and some frame paint. After I level my truck I'm going to need to inspect again to ensure the lowest parts of the frame will have adequate drainage.

It's raining today but eventually I will update this thread with some pictures.

Hopefully this helps all you fellow enthusiast keep your trucks mint for decades to come

Traveling the next couple days. Will post pics Wesnesday. Go out and take a look at your HD's...compare the pass side of the frame against the driver side. My driver side was missing a drain hole in the lowest part of the frame (under and just forward of the driver door).

Pic one is the hole I stuck my finger in below the driver door. This hole is about 16" away from the lowest point of my frame and it was full of water.

Pic two is the drain hole I drilled. Works flawlessly. It's at the lowest point in the frame under the drivers door. No more water pooling.
