Seat Airbags

I'm in the market for a 2015 Silverado Crew Cab, at the moment I can only afford a salvage one that ain't shabby at all. Side airbag in the driver seat is blown. I'm not planning to replace the airbag as where I live there is no one who can program them even if I got the module and replacement. Can I just have this sewn back up?

Thanks,

Just because it looks "not too shabby" doesn't mean it doesn't have underlaying issues. This could be a huge money pit, and if you're not willing to fix a basic safety feature I don't know I'd be getting involved with this vehicle. Just my opinion of course.

who knows what underlieing damage can be to the frame or other parts if it was damaged enough that its in a salvage yard its probably not worth it plus you should be willing/able to fix safety features especially the airbag that comes 2nd only to the seatbelt at saving the persons live thats in that seat with might be your wife daughter son mother would you want them sitting in that seat with no air bag when god forbid you get in an accident even if its someone else hitting you head on

If a bag is blown the airbag system will know and you'll have alerts all over the place. They are computer controlled. You'll have to replace the bag module to reset the system. You could sew it shut, but you could easily buy a stock seat cover and put it on.

Thanks man, I do understand what others are saying above. Believe me, my family safety is of utmost importance. However it is not all peaches and cream where I live. There are no dealers here, so buying a new vehicle from the showroom is wishful thinking. It is not uncommon in my country to get salvage vehicles, as a matter of fact If I had to guess I would say 60% of the vehicles here are from auctions. It's not that I don't want to but some places don't have the luxury as others.
