Quick Question

Drove my truck about 30 min north. Got out and purchased my fireworks for this evening got back in and started the truck and it died. Restarted my truck and it ran a little ruff for a few seconds 5-10 I would say and died again. It started right back up and ran without any problems coming home. Just rolled 26,000 miles... Any ideas? Anything I should be concerned with? Have not had this problem before. Temps today are in the 70's to lower 80's.

Two of my trucks have done that. The 92 has done it 4 or 5 times in the last 7 years. The 02Z71 has done it once. Both of them did it exactly as you are describing. Had me scratching my head as well.

I don't have an explanation, but they always started right up and ran fine on the third or fourth try...So I don't get too concerned about it.

Just my .02

We are not allowed to pump our gas in Oregon... So I really never get a chance to look at the octane rating on the gas I am using... Just putting regular unleaded in it... I will look for the octane rating a little closer on Monday when I fill up.

Yep it is agaisnt the law to pump your gas here in Oregon... I recently went to California and had to ask how to pump the gas. Never had done it in my life. I felt like a idiot.

NJ was the same way when I was there. I got out and went for the pump, and the attendant came flying out of the station. Scared the crap out of me.

Evidently, those folks up there can't be trusted to be their own "petroleum operator".

So it is legal in Oregon to handle explosives (fireworks) but you can't be trusted to pump your own gas? That is government working at its' finest!:D

Happy 4th all

Actually that is why I had to go to washington to buy my fireworks. Can't have anything in Oregon that fly's more then 16 inches off the ground. Guess they think we are idiots in this state.

Wow!

Even like kites, remote control airplanes, etc, or just fireworks?

Just fireworks for now.... The state of oregon has got there hand all over everything... Pretty soon we are not going to wipe butt without a special permit in this state.

That has not happened to my truck but it did happen to our 02 Venture the exact same way as you said. All I can figure out is with all these electronics in the systems these days there can be a simple glitch that one time and it might cause that. Not sure what is up but it has happened a few times in the Venture. Keeping my fingers crossed that it isin't something major. Although it is in the shop right now for faulty head gaskets. Driving a Trailblazer right now. That thing is nice. Handles well and rides well.

It is amazing what different states do. Take Va and DC for example. No radar detectors allowed. Go figure. But that is their law. Recycling is another. NJ is tough on it but other states don't bother. So what gives? Don't know other than law makers trying to keep their jobs or get rich some how by making things happen. Who knows.

Had some good fireworks tonight. Hope everyone else had a good 4th. :D

:D what your describing sounds like an intermit problem with the mass air flow sensor check the connector and make sure its plugged in good, i always forget to hook it back up when i change my air filter and it runs just like you said or maybe a bad unit. wont give a code right off or a light guess has to be bad for a while ct

These engines need 91 or higher. I bet it was just a fuel problem. It probably began pre-detonating at a low rpm (under 500) and didnt have enough torque to overcome so it stalled. Normally when it pre detonates your at least at an idle so the crank has enough inertia to get itself around even with the detonation on the piston fighting it.
