Flapper valve question

I got a flapper valve from a member here. My question is does it need to go a certain distance from the muffler or it can be put wherever. Because my carved muffler is shorter than oem so it was moved forward more by about 6" or so and the stock pipe is about 1' away and I'd weld it where the stock pipe starts

Perfect. I'm going to spray the he'll out of it with silicone lube or something of the sort so hopefully.it doesn't start squeaking
