What would be considered normal transmission temp when towing a 2500lb boat with a 4.3 liter 2014 truck? At what point does one begin worrying with the transmission temp?

I believe its a smidge below the actual engine operating temp..worst case the truck will tell you when the tranny is overheating

200 Normal, no damage

220 time to take it easy- no damage

250 pull over and let cool down - very little damage

270 pull over let cool down and change your trans fluid asap

Some folks are doing a simple mod the what they are calling the transmission thermostat that drastically reduces trans temps. Not sure if it's a good idea or not but it seems all the rage among certain FB goups. Easy to find on you tube if interested.

Don't think the 4.3 has a trans cooler, if it doesn't then it doesn't have a thermostat
