Full length ported sub enclosure for 2014 Silverado double cab

I am in the process of building a ported sub enclosure for my 2014 Silverado double cab. I have already built a sealed enclosure with maybe .6-.8 cu ft of air space. It does sound great but I have read several reviews and forum posts etc that say to go ported enclosure for the JL audio 12"tw3-d4 to do it real justice. I am building this enclosure with as much air space as i can while still maintaining as much footspace for my kids. So i am not all that confident I am going to get the .95 cu ft needed for the enclosure. Either way I am going to finish it and check it out. Wish me luck. I still have a little more fabrication to go and then paint or carpet but I am very close too the end of this project. If you have any tips or anything you would like to add to the process I would love to read it. And yes I realize my backyard workspace is a mess so if you feel the need please comment otherwise thank you for the pointers. Hopefully it will be installed and banging tomorrow.

Update: I "finished" the box. It needs to be sanded and painted but structurally it is ready. It really does have a nice low end extension. It does have it's limits overall when cranked to the max but this thing hits hard. I don't know what frequency the box ended up being tuned to. I tried my hardest to get those recommended port dimensions but it was off just a little with the space I had available. I guess I can go into any sound shop or a best buy and have them test it, anyone know? I will take a couple pics here in a little bit.

Is that .95 cubes before or after port? Because the typical 12" sub uses ateast 1.5 cubes before port area you.might be choking that sub out

My calculations are based on just the internal volume of the box, not the port. My best estimate is there may be .7-.9 cu ft not including the port. I threw some poly fill in there just in case.

I will post some pics up in the next day or two. My truck is a wreck and I have been busy. Also it is not a finished product. I didn't sand or paint it yet.

The ported box compared to the sealed enclosure I built is pretty nice. I am no expert box builder but it came out good and the sound I get is respetable in my opinion. I have had multiple 12s or 10s before in smaller cars so I have to keep reminding myself it is only one 12 back there. But it slams.

Only problem now is the rest of the factory sound system is weak. I have installed components before subs in previous cars but I decided to start with the low end in my 14 silverado. When I wired up my three.2 I ran the rcas and speaker wire for the components and amps. So once I can afford what I want it won't take much to get it in there.

Like I said, it is rough, but it hits.

It was worth the trouble. The sound i get compared to the sealed enclosure is a nice step up. It definetely woke this sub up alot. The only thing now is i am not sure my amp is getting the best low signal from my factory headunit. It seams inconsistent compared to other systems I have had with aftermarket head units.

I have a lot of honey do projects but hopefully will get this thing finished in the next couple weeks.
