Tail lights out

Hello, this is my first post, hope I'm in the right spot. I have a 2012 Silverado LT with 40k miles. A few days ago a co worker notified me that my tail lights were not on when leaving work at night. I have tried to change fuses but this hasn't worked. I use the "Auto" feature for headlights. Strange thing is when I turn off my truck, my headlights and taillights stay on for a minute or so before turning off, so I know they aren't burnt out... I got pulled over last night for it so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
