Think you installed the wrong version of 4l60e into your truck.

Check out this video. Found it pretty informative.

I've watched that video and its a little wrong my spare trans is out of a 99 and it is the same as my 03 visual wise and his video says they visually different which I know is wrong as my 99 has bolt hole on top of trans like my 03 where video it shows it doesn't my original trans is as labeled 3kcd and my new trans is a 9kcd

Torque converter same size I measured shafts they were the same transfer cases were different by one plug but trans were the same visually and had same plugs and locations trany pan size everything is visually the same and its coming up with alto of codes but only trans codes are for torque converter and shift solinoid electrical

You say it's not shifting? Double check the speed sensor plugs are plugged in the right spot; there's 2 or 3 on the transfer case and at least 2 of them are the same.

Didn't know that thank you very much for the info will check tonight and let everybody know thank you very much and thanks everybody I was a ford guy converting to Chevy

I should clarify...the plugs are the same on a couple of them, for some reason, but the sensor functions are specific. One is the VSS (will make it not shift if disconnected or wrong harness plugged in; another near it is a TC speed sensor, and the one off to the drivers side is a output speed sensor for the front driveshaft.

Speedometer works but starts in 3 in drive but I can manually shift to 2 was told its electrical and my trans isn't getting power and was told to check my ign does anybody know what wires im supposed to check on the ignition to tell if its sending power to trans

Try jiggling or just replace the ignition switch in the steering column. I'm sure there's a YouTube video out there. I know of a few that fixed transmission not upshifting issue by replacing ignition switch. Everything runs through the ignition switch so a good place to start.

Your truck is in limp mode if it's starting in 3rd while in Drive range. There is a loss of power (or ground) to the trans which makes the 4l60 default to 3rd. If you look at a power flow chart, you'll see both shift solenoids are commanded "OFF" (in normal operation) to give 3rd gear.....So yes, it likely an electrical problem. Double check that the large round connector is plugged in on the right side of the trans just above the oil pan (it plugs in from above....that one).

Absolutely could be this. 99-02 trucks were problematic with failing ignition switches, and not just the 1500, but the 2500s as well. They can be torn apart and cleaned, but most just opt for the faster, and easier replacement of the switch assembly itself.

I checked ignition and im only getting 6 volts to ignition 0 fuse inside truck that would mean my ignition is bad correct?

A failing ignition switch can still show 12V at the trans, but if the switch is bad, it will be too large of a voltage drop and kick it into limp mode. If you have access to a bi-directional scan tool, see if you can command a shift that way.
