A few questions

OK this past weekend I compleated the NJ Rider Education course and have recieved my motorcycle license. I am what you could say straped for cash and I am looking to get a cheap bike. When I say cheap I mean cheap. Like no more than a grand. I live in the Northern NJ area. Would anyone know of someone with a bike sitting around that they don't want anymore within driving distance.

I am looking for a 750cc Plus Cruiser style bike. Stock or Custom. No difference to me. I really like the Vulcans and Shadows. My dad has a Harley and I would love one but there is no way in the world I could afford that. This bike will most likely be for just this season. As long as I can get some cash for next year.

Now my last question would be Are there any genaric message boards for This style bike. Even if it is all Honda Or Kawasaki. I would prefer just for cruisers though. And e an active site. I would like to just get to talk to more people about them.

Thanks in advance.

I would think you could find a Kawasaki Vulcan or Yamaha Virago in that price range... The Shadow would probably be a little more $$$...

All thre of those bikes have been around for 20 years. (I think my old 750 Virago was an '83) I sold that old Virago to a guy at work for a grand and the bike had about 8K miles on it.

Congrats on passing the test and for taking the riders course. I've had my motorcycle endorsment for about 20 years, and have never taken the msf course. I've always thought it would be a good idea, but never got around to it...

I hope you find a bike and keep the shiney side up!!!

Another bike to consider, that has the cruiser looks but the 4-cyl. performance, would be the V45 and V65 Honda Magna. Those bikes had good looks and plenty of power... I especially liked the 87-88 models. They were 700cc and ran like a raped ape... My buddy had one and it was a darn good bike...

Thanks Shanners. Yea I like the Magna. Those were mostly what I was looking for. And that course is worth it. I have rode Dirt Bikes for a while and I had learned a lot. MNy Mom Dad and I all took the course. My mom and I passed but my dad who has had his license since he was 17 now (48) failed. To many years of bad habits and were to hard for him to break. I feel so bad for him but he also has trouble listening to people. Not that he knows everything but he likes his ways. but it is totally worth twice what you pay. Especially liveing in NJ.

The MSF course is FREE to anyone in PA. You ride their bikes and when you complete the course you have your liscense and a discount in your insurance (in most cases).

Wow you are lucky. Here in Jersey you have the choice of a few courses that rangefrom $150 to $300. And you have to pre registerabout 6 months in advance. We registered in Nov. for a July course. So how much Ins. savings do you get? We get 10%.

I believe it is the same in PA. Approx 10% discount for insurance.
