Back up lights alway on after camera install

Bought a 14 Silverado LT a month ago and am in process of trying to add a back up camera since it did not come with it. 4.2 inch screen that will upgrade later. So....... ordered the handle and camera. Before radio was programmed when camera was plugged in the back up lights would be on as soon as you started truck. Stayed on no matter what gear it was in including park so unplugged it and no more back up lights on. Then plugged it in later before I had radio (mylink) programmed and camera works like it is supposed to but now problem with back up lights again so now have camera unplugged and lights back to normal. Any ideas? Camera is aftermarket. Thanks. Brian.

gm uses a drain wire thats why it takes a few seconds for the display to switch back after switching out of reverse, your aftermarket camera might not have this

you can simply tap on the screen after switching out of reverse if needed. I can do that on my 8” screen, not sure about others.
