2017 gmc denali oil leak

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. i have a 2017 gmc denali 6.6 diesel with 268 miles leaking oil. Looks like from somewhere above upper oil pan between engine and transmission on drivers side. Took it to the dealer they told me it was coming from lower oil pan, they resealed it. Next morning i have noticed oil drops on concrete again . It looks like its still leaking above upper oil pan between engine and transmission on drivers side. Anyone had this problem?

Leaks get reported from time-to-time on the diesel forums that I follow.

Seems like more than one possible location, rather than always occurring from the same place.

Probably a little patience with your favorite service department and they will get if fixed - and  might even earn you better service in the future.

They definitely should be able to get it stopped, as 6.6's are not known as 'leakers'.

Redwngr - how is your l5p treating you? I like the mineral metallic. Seems like a hard color to find on the lot. Does it show dirt like a dark blue or black color or not bad like a silver or white?

Ive been looking for owner reviews on the new l5p. Duramaxfourms? Anywhere else? We have a 14 lml in the family which now has 40k miles and has been trouble free except for oil pressure sending unit and def tank sensor needing to be replaced. I hope we got a good cp4 as I’ve read that’s the one prob with 2011 - 2016 lml.

I think the colour will be good for hiding dust and dirt.

I ordered it as I couldn't find one equipped as I wanted (but I was able to view the colour).  As you probably know it's only available on Denali trims (including the Denali's that are not sierra).

Some L5P's have had an issue with CEL's -- not ones that are escalating to power reduction or speed limit, but concerning to those that get them.  Some were being told there was not yet a known fix. Programming recall was announced to dealers Nov 1.  Factory change just before then.  Hopefully this will correct things for those that had trouble.

Only been about a week or so, but so far very pleased.

EDIT: 2009GMC you have a private message.
