If you don't remember, I'm running the Country Music Marathon www.cmmarathon.com on Apr 27.  I plan on staying in a hotel there for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday.  I've narrowed my search to:

Days Inn Downtown Convention Center

711 Union St

Nashville, TN

$94.95

Ramada Inn Convention Center

920 Broadway Ave

Nashville, TN

$102

Are these good places to stay at?  Are there others to consider?  (BTW those prices are at a Marathon discount)  Is anyone from that area?  Perhaps if/when I recover my sanity, we can hang out.

Well, as a seasoned Traveller, I can tell you this about the Hotels you listed...

If I were you,betwwen the 2, I'd go with Ramada. :D

Point A: 90% of the Days Inns I've seen are trashy, and Ramadas are definetely nicer. Hence the extra $8 :D

Point B: My mom and I have had 2 bad experiences with Days Inn.

1. my mom was out on the day and let the maids clean up the room and they messed with her luggage (Which was well out ofthe way).

2. My mom thought after the 1st experience she'd be better off taking her important stuff that she cares about with her, andnot leave it to the hands of the maids.

Well she got back to find out theyhad checked  her out cause they thought she left for good. And they tossed out some of the stuff she left, work related items, a Telxon (If you know what it is), not to mention a few other things,

Thanks General

I was thinking that way too.  I need to make my reservations later today.....so if anyone else has some expertise here, I'm all ears.

The best/nicest hotel in Nashville, TN is the Opryland Hotel, but it is a bit pricey...if anything, it is definitely worth just going into while you are there, you can walk around it all you want for free, believe me, you won't be disappointed  :D

My parents and I went there when I was 7 or so.  Isn't there a mall or something attached to it also?  They had locks going to where ever I'm talking about.   ???  I'm thinking the Opryland hotel is about twice what I'm paying! Talk about an expensive little vacation.  :D

Yeah, there are some shops inside of the hotel.  There are also gardens, huge "dancing water" fountain things, a bar that you can sit in with a spinning floor...all kinds of cool things!  A little bit behind the Opryland Hotel is a new huge mall...Opry Mills.  They have a huge Bass Pro Shop in there  :D If you get a chance, check it out, I've been there quite a few times, but you at least have to go inside of the Opryland Hotel, I went there right after they remodeled it...maybe 5 years ago, and it's nice!  Yep, you can make an expensive little vacation out of it that's for sure...I'd go with the Ramada if I were you, I've never been in it, but Ramada's are usually pretty nice  :D

No problem siume99!  Nope, I don't actually live in the Nashville area, I live in Indiana, but I do visit Nashville quite a bit when I have time.  Unfortunately I haven't had much time lately, I haven't been there in about a year and half  :D But, I do like it a lot there, I am wanting to see the brand new Country Music Hall of Fame, I went to the old one the last time I was there, but now they have a brand new huge building for it.  That's something else you can check out if you have time...it's supposed to be nice, I believe it is in downtown Nashville, near the Ryman Auditorium if I'm not mistaken.  By the way, I hope you have a great time in Nashville! :D

ive lived in nashville and trying to move back this spring..  the two best hotels that I've experienced there is of course the huge opryland hotel and the holiday inn select in hendersonville.

With the opry you get to be near the new mall and also the new country music hall of fame which is a never miss.

Well, thanks for the help.  Considering costs, location to the finish line (closer the better :D ) and the fact that many of the hotels were booked, I'm staying at the Ramada Inn Convention Center.

Well, I'm too late to be much help, but I stayed in Nashville three weeks ago.  Vanderbilt put us up in the Embassy Suites on Broadway (downtown).  I think the rooms were $150 a night.  It was fabulous.  Great breakfast in the morning and at happy hour, all the free beer you could drink.
