GMT800 things to look for?

Hey guys,

 

I'm looking to buy a 2003-2006 Silverado 1500 with the cat eye body style, or an 07 Classic. I'd like to stay under $15k and no more than 100K miles. Is this realistic? Also, do you guys have any suggestions of anything in particular I should inspect closely when buying a truck like this?I've heard check for rust , but how much is too much on these things?  Anything else you guys can think of feel free to include it.

Burnt out radio/hvac/ipc lighting, ipc needles sticking or not moving, broken off exhaust manifold bolts, coolant in the oil, worn out front suspension parts

me personally, I would not buy a truck that old if it didn't have well over 100K. sitting is the worst thing for them and people who typically don't drive them all that much don't take care of them either. I bought my 2010 with 103k coming up on 3 years ago and did most of the fluids - trans and filter, rear diff and oil. Changed plugs/wires and it has126k on it now. All the parts have a certain life span, a low mileage truck may not have found them all yet and you will be the one to find them. just my .02
